Competition Results

The IEEE sponsored competition took place at Suffolk University in the Beacon Hill area of Boston.

Six Universities competed in this contest, including Suffolk University, City College of New York, Tufts University, SUNY Institute of Technology, United States Military Academy, and Ohio Northern University.

This is the maze that was constructed at the competition.

At this contest, 13 mice were registered to compete.  Only 7 did compete though.  Some of the other mice that did compete can be seen in the following pictures.

SUNY Institute of Technology’s Mouse “Wild Rat”

Tufts University’s Mouse

These two mice were the only 2 out of the 7 that competed to complete the maze.  ONU’s mouse “Stavagos” came very close to finishing the maze.  As shown in the picture below, Stavagos only had two more turns to get to the center.  This picture shows where he was the closest to the center of the maze.

This was the first run.  It took Stavagos approximately 3 minutes to get to this point.  The winning run time took 4.5 minutes.

This picture shows us after the competition.

Overall, ONU and Stavagos did very well for the first year of competition.  Hopefully, this contest will continue and only grow from here.
